KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 -- Orang Asli elder Amek Pedik, 67, (right) demonstrates how to weave a tempok (a traditional head ornament made from coconut leaves used during ceremonial occasions) at the Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) booth in conjunction with the 46th ASEAN Summit at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) here, today.
The indigenous culture of Malaysia's Orang Asli community is being showcased on the ASEAN stage to a broader audience, including among ASEAN member states, in an effort to introduce and preserve the community's cultural heritage and identity.
